MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- The field office manager of the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) clarified that the work of the task force is different from that of the Marawi Compensation Board (MCB).
Asec. Felix Castro Jr. said TFBM focuses on the ongoing rehabilitation of the war-torn Marawi while MCB is to oversee the compensation for the loss of properties and lives as a result of the 2017 Marawi siege
He, however, emphasized that TFBM is also helping the MCB in providing the needed data to facilitate their work and speed up the development of the implementing rules and regulations of the Marawi Siege Victims Compensation Act of 2022.
As for the internally displaced persons, Castro said TFBM is still there to help them when they have concerns not related to compensation.
"Andito pa rin kami kasi may mga issues pa rin. May mga lumalapit , nagtatanong na hindi naman related sa compensation," he said.
[We are still here because there are still issues. Some people approach us asking questions that are not related to compensation.]
The TFBM field office manager also reiterated that complete rehabilitation is not only about the infrastructure but also about people. And with the compensation, he said residents of the most affected area will be able to return and build back their houses. (JND/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
