MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to turn over three completed school buildings to the Department of Education (DepEd) on May 17, 2023 as part of this year's Marawi Week of Peace celebration.
Engr. Mikunug Macabantog, the DPWH-X focal person for Task Force Bangon Marawi, said the three 4-storey school buildings were constructed following DepEd's standard on classroom construction. Each building consists of 20 classrooms.
Aside from the classrooms, he said the school building project also includes other facilities such as a reservoir, water system, comfort rooms, lighting, and sprinklers that can be used for emergencies.
The three buildings are part of the integrated school project under the Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Program wherein 10 school buildings will be constructed inside the most affected area of Marawi.
The DPWH already turned over the first completed school building in March of last year while the remaining six buildings are in various stages of completion.
Macabantog said their goal is to turn over the remaining buildings in October this year, in time for the Marawi liberation commemoration.
He also conveyed DPWH's commitment to restoring Marawi so that its residents will have better lives than before. (JND/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
