ROXAS CITY, Capiz (PIA) -- A total of 46,900 performers danced to the beat of “Sayaw” province-wide during a unity dance in view of the International Dance Day (IDD) 2023 on April 29.
Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office head Alphonsus Tesoro conveyed his gratitude to the dancers, Department of Education, local government units and other stakeholders for the success of the activity.
The unity dance was led by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in partnership with the Negros Museum and the Capiz provincial government.
Tesoro stressed that the final count of the dancers was based on the attendance gathered for the event.
“Vendors, Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and local officials also joined the unity dance that was largely participated in by students, teachers, and government employees,” he noted.
The unity dance was conceptualized and choreographed by NCCA National Committee on Dance Chairperson Dr. Shirley Halili-Cruz.
The IDD is a celebration held for everyone to see the value and importance of dance as an art form. (AGP/AAL/PIA Capiz)
