Commission on Filipinos Overseas transfers to new Davao City office

DAVAO CITY (PIA) --The Commission on Filipino Overseas (CFO) formally inaugurated its new office in Davao City on May 19.

The new CFO Davao extension office, located at Pink Walters Building along Quimpo Boulevard, completes the transfer of the office from its former location in the AMQ Building along Dacudao Avenue in Agdao District.

According to CFO Undersecretary lawyer Valery Joy Brion, the new office location might be smaller than the former Agdao office but it is more accessible to clients.

“The old office is a lot bigger but this location now is more accessible to the public. It is more convenient for our clients to transact,” Brion said.

She added that the digitalization efforts of the CFO allowed the transacting public to have online options.

The CFO usually serves 20 to 25 clients daily for Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) and around six clients for GCP (Guidance and Counselling Program).

From 1988 to 2017 the Davao Extension Office recorded more than 155,000 immigrants from Mindanao and 35,000 of these hailed from Davao City.

“That is why it is important that we have our branch here,” Brion said.

From 2005 to 2017 the CFO recorded 33,000 registrations for spouses and partners of foreign nationals. “Of the number, 7,730 of them were from Davao,” Brion added.

“From its opening and up to early 2020 the CFO Davao office in Agdao was able to record a total of 7,780 client registrations,” Brion cited the ever-growing importance of keeping a Davao extension office because of the huge number of clients.

The new Commission on Filipinos Overseas Davao City Extension Office is located at Unit 309, Third Floor Pink Walters Building, Quimpo Boulevard. The building location is situated in the middle of Jollibee Quimpo and Blue Lotus Hotel. (PIA/RG Alama)
