Iloilo MR-OPV campaign volunteers to get incentives

ILOILO CITY (PIA) –-  Barangay volunteers who are involved in the conduct of the measles-rubella and oral poliovirus vaccine supplemental immunization activity (MR-OPV SIA) this month are expected to receive incentives from the Iloilo provincial government.

A mobilization budget amounting to P8 million was allocated for volunteer workers to ramp-up the province’s vaccination coverage.

Volunteer workers such as Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars and Child Development Workers or Barangay Service Point Officers who acted as social mobilizers, guides and recorders or conducted social preparation and advocacy activities will get P50 for every child they mobilized for vaccination.

The basis for the payroll is the list of children inoculated which is uploaded to the Synchronized Electronic Immunization Registry.

Moreover, the workers must be included in the List of Qualified Barangay Volunteers as verified by the midwife or nurse-in-charge and concurred by the municipal health officer for them to avail of the incentives.

According to Provincial Health Officer Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon, the provincial government wants to reward the efforts of the volunteer workers in accelerating its vaccination coverage.

The province of Iloilo aims to immunize 161,566 children aged 9 to 59 months of measles rubella.

A total of 98,792 children or 61.15 percent of the target eligible population have been vaccinated as of May 18, 2023.

The annual supplemental immunization activity is the national government’s campaign from May 1 to 31 which seeks to eliminate measles in the country. (AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo/Capitol PR)
