ISCC awards midwifery board passers, reg'l top 9

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur – The Ilocos Sur Community College (ISCC) recognized its students who passed the November 2022 and April 2023 Midwifery Licensure Examinations during the 48th Pinning, Candle Lighting, and Madonna Warding Ceremonies held on Tuesday, May 16.

The institution achieved 82.35% passing rate for the November 2022 exams and from which, 57.14% are first time takers; while it garnered a passing rate of 46.15% during the April exams this year.

This includes the Regional Midwifery Board Exam Top 9, Juslyn C. Bautista with a rating of 85.95%.

In an interview with Bautista during the event, she shared how the ISCC equipped her for the exam.

“Sobrang ganda ng quality of education nila sa ISCC, talagang tinututukan nila ang mga estudyante. Sinanay nila kami with board exam type questions. Isinapuso’t isip ko lahat ng natutunan ko na nagamit doon sa exam,” she said.

She also acknowledged how the educators at the college helped her with trials she faced before the exam.

She said, “Maraming pagsubok kaya one month lang ako nakapag-review, pero binigyan ako ng encouragement ng instructors namin, at naniwala sila na kaya ko.”

Further, Jeff Leigh Reburon, midwifery department head of ISCC, said his heart is eternally happy to see that one of their students who have trained for four years is already a full-pledged midwife and a topnotcher.

“Talagang masasabi ko na hindi papahuli ang ISCC with the kind of products that we are producing, and also the topnotchers that we have been sending to the rest of the world for a couple of years already. As the head, it makes me happy because I know that I have a great team behind me,” said Reburon.

Meanwhile, Reburon shared his hopes for the younger students of the ISCC to stay true and firm with their belief that someday they can bring pride to the institution as well.

“I think marami pa tayong kayang gawin or i-produce na students who may become topnotchers provided that they will also allow us to be with them, helping them,” he added. (JCR/AMB/ATV/Jessa Reynon, PIA Ilocos Sur)
