DAVAO CITY (PIA) -- Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Abellera Magno is eyeing the groundbreaking of several housing flagship projects in Davao Region.

“May negosasyon na nangyayari between the concerned agencies the LGU (local government units), the NHA (National Housing Authorities) sana maresolba ang kailangang maresolbahin para tuloy na ang groundbreaking ng mga housing projects sa Region 11 (There are negotiations happening between the concerned agencies; the LGU , the NHA. I hope that they will resolve the things that needs to be resolved so the groundbreaking will happen for the housing projects in region 11),” Sec. Magno said.

The Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) is flagship housing program of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. that seeks to build 6 million affordable and decent houses for Filipinos who are in need of affordable and adequate housing.

For the 4PH housing program in Davao Region, Sec. Magno’s Office of the Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao (OPAMINE) has signed a memorandum of partnership with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) for the program implementation in Eastern Mindanao.

He hopes that some of the projects will have their groundbreaking next month or within this year.

“Kung sana magawa natin within next month meron na tayong groundbreaking or MoU na mapipirmahan para umusad naman. May nakakausap kaming mga LGU na bibilisan nila ng mga requisitong kailangan (We hope that by next month we have a groundbreaking or MoU that will be signed so that the project will move. We have talked to LGUs they will hasten the needed requistes),” Sec. Magno stressed, expressing his optimism that their LGU partners are moving to prepare for the implementation of these 4PH projects.

An average cost of housing for the beneficiaries is around Php 3,000 per month for about 15 years.

“However, this will depend on the LGUs many like to hasten the payment period like P4,000. P5,000 it really depends on the LGUs but what is beautiful is that the computations are based on the payment capacity of a minimum wage earner,” Sec. Magno said. (RG Alama/PIA Davao City)
