BESAO, Mountain Province(PIA)-- In  continuing efforts order to capacitate individuals with knowledge and basic skills in responding to emergencies,  the Local Government of Besao thru its Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office(MDRRMO) a five-day Emergency Responders Training.

Conducted from May 15 to May 19 in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office(PDRRMO), 56 participants were trained on basic life support, basic ropemanship, and water rescue, and  response to other medical emergencies.

The participants  were composed of  barangay responders, LGU employees, students of  St. James High School, and  personnel of the  Bureau of Fire |Protection  and  Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The LGU trusts  that having emergency responders who are equipped with knowledge on emergency management and skills in handling injuries can translate into  efficient response during emergencies.

Dublin A. Cawed,  teacher -in-charge  of St. James High School  DRRM, shared her experience as a first timer participant of ERT.

“Super worth it yung experience especially  it is my first time  to join. Madaming mga information na magagamit kasi hawak ko yung isang subject ng DRRM,” she said.

Cawed also shared that she was able to overcome her trauma of  water because of the activities during the  training.

The PDRRMO and  the Office of Civil Defense conducted earlier this month Incident Command System Executive Course Training for MDRRMO members led by Mayor Bryne Bacwaden, and other emergency responders.(JDP/VJLT-PIA CAR, Mt. Province)
