ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- In commemoration of the Month of the Ocean, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) took the lead in organizing a coastal clean-up drive in Brgy. Budiong, Odiongan on May 20.

The event aimed to raise awareness about marine conservation and promote sustainability under the theme "Sustainability Feed The Global Population."

Personnel from various national government agencies, together with volunteers, including students, joined forces in the clean-up drive. For nearly two hours, they collected trash and debris along the shorelines.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Santa Maria also conducted a separate volunteer program and community clean-up drive. The event was supported by the municipal officials, department heads, employees, staff, and various volunteer organizations.

These initiatives in Odiongan and Santa Maria manifested the commitment of their respective organizations to environmental stewardship according to DENR. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa-Romblon)
