DPWH turns over 3 school buildings in Marawi to DepEd

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--As part of this year's Marawi Week of Peace celebration, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-10 turned over three school buildings, consisting of 60 classrooms, to the Department of Education (DepEd) in the city.

Engr. Mikunug Macabantog, DPWH-10 focal person for Task Force Bangon Marawi, said the three buildings are part of the integrated school project under the Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery program.

"This school building project is one of our major tasks and responsibilities for the rehabilitation of Marawi in addition to other projects undertaken by DPWH Regional Office 10, such as the construction of bridges, road bypasses, and other public buildings in the city and adjacent municipalities as part of the Bangon Marawi program," he said.

The integrated school project intends to construct 10 school buildings, with 20 classrooms in each building, inside the most affected area of Marawi.

The first completed school building was already inaugurated and turned over last year, while the remaining six are in different stages of completion.

DPWH-10 Construction Division Chief Engr. Virgie Nayve promised that they would do their best to complete the remaining buildings very soon.

This, as she stressed that the completion of the school buildings fulfills the government's mission of providing a conducive venue, particularly for students and teachers to develop their full potential and become successful members of the community, the nation, and the world.
