MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--City Mayor Majul Gandamra underscored the profound impact of the newly completed school buildings in the most affected area (MAA) of the city on student outcomes.
Gandamra emphasized during the inauguration of the three school buildings in Barangay Moncado Kadingilan that new classrooms, activity spaces, and amenities encourage good school attendance.
"It is also good for the broader community surrounding the school because, in the context of the Marawi siege, the more educated our people are, especially about peace and the advantages it brings, they will no longer have to turn to extremism, terrorism, and other forms of criminality," he said.
The mayor further said that if a community is to improve its socio-economic condition, it needs people with the right experience and education.
With this, he vowed to pour his full support into the operationalization of the integrated school as soon as possible.
Gandamra also thanked the Department of Public Works and Highways for leading the construction of the school buildings, stressing that the local government is grateful for such a wonderful gift to the Marawi youth.
Under the Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery program, DPWH served as the implementing agency for the construction of 10 school buildings in MAA, dubbed the Marawi Integrated School Project. One school building was turned over last year, while three were inaugurated, May 17, in line with the Marawi Week of Peace celebration. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
