SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (Comelec) here has reminded aspiring public officials of the rules and regulations in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections on October 30.

In a press conference on May 22, newly-installed Antique Provincial Election Supervisor (PES) lawyer Salud Milagros C. Villanueva urged to be-candidates to revisit and follow standing laws and the guidelines of the Commission on the different aspects of the election.

The official also enjoined registered voters and the public, in general, to contribute towards a peaceful, credible, and successful election in the province, saying that exercising one’s right to vote is a way of giving value to the democracy that Filipinos fought so hard for in the past.

The election period and gun ban will begin on August 28 and will last until November 29, which is also the last day for all candidates in filing the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE).

In Antique, the Commission logged some 404,233 registered voters for the barangay election and over 147,000 for the SK election, with 1,313 clustered precincts.

Voting centers will be open from 07:00 am to 03:00 pm and will accommodate persons with disabilities (PWD), pregnant women, and senior citizens through the Emergency Accessible Polling Places (EAPP). (AGP/BPS/PIA Antique/Photo Courtesy: Comelec)
