ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- The local government unit of Odiongan joined the global observance of World Preeclampsia Day with an enlightening event held yesterday, featuring a lecture by Obstetrics and Gynecology specialist, Dr. Marie Scent Vera Fopalan-Benedicto.

The Municipal Hall Conference Room (Bulwagan) was filled with attendees, including Dr. Jeremiah Morgado, staff from the Rural Health Unit, and pregnant mothers.

During the lecture, Benedicto emphasized the significance of early detection and treatment of preeclampsia, a condition that poses risks to pregnant women. She stressed that with timely identification, preeclampsia can be effectively managed through appropriate medication.

To ensure a healthy pregnancy, Benedicto encouraged pregnant women to prioritize regular check-ups and undergo close monitoring by their healthcare providers.

Pregnant women were urged to be vigilant and seek immediate medical attention if they are experiencing any symptoms associated with preeclampsia like high blood pressure, swelling, headaches, abdominal pain, changes in vision, and decreased fetal movement or a sign that the fetus is growing and strength.
