SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA)—The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Ilocos region announced on Thursday, that they will be conducting an ICT Proficiency Certification (hands-on-examination) on June 28.
The ICT Proficiency is a qualifying examination that is equivalent to Career Service Professional examination by the Civil Service Commission.
To qualify, an applicant must be a Filipino citizen and a bachelor’s degree holder or will graduate before the exam date, as certified by the school dean and must have undergone formal training in a college or training institution in programming.
Also, takers must be a passer of the ICT diagnostic examination first.
A payment of Php500 for professionals and Php300 for students will serve as a registration fee.
Submission of requirements started on May 18 and will end on June 16.
According to Mary Jane B. Nerona, division chief officer-in-charge for technical operations, the examination is open for all, including the passers of diagnostic exams from other regions.
"Passers from other regions may join, basta dalhin nila 'yong notification na pumasa sila sa diagnostic exam. Mag-register sila sa Facebook link provided at our page," said Nerona.
Passers of the ICT proficiency are eligible to apply for Electronic Data Processing Specialist Eligibility (EDPSE), which can be used when competing or applying for permanent positions in the government that are functionally related to ICT.

Venue of the examination will be in San Fernando City.
