Pasig lgu polishes its 2024 Annual Investment Program

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The City Planning and Development Office of Pasig held a three-day workshop from May 18 to 20 to finalize the mainstreaming, attribution, and packaging of the programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) that are encapsulated in the 2024 Annual Investment Program (AIP) of the city.

The workshop aims to ensure that all PPAs are reflected in the AIPs of the city government including the set of budgets which needs to be attributed to respective offices and those stipulated in their statutory as well as mandatory obligations.

The Local Finance Committee joined the workshop alongside other offices that are in-charge of consolidating the local government fund allocation such as the Office on General Services for the procurement of common-used supplies, Management Information Systems Office for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment, and Human Resource Development Office for the provision of capacity-development interventions.

Along with the finalization of AIP, the local government also conducted a two-day full presentation of the investment program to the 26 representatives of the 15 civil society organizations (CSOs) of the City Development Council (CDC) last May 20 to 21.

The first presentation centered on the discussion of AIPs of the social sector led by the sectoral co-chairs of the Pasig Urban Settlements Office, Education Unit, Office on Social Welfare and Development, and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Office. Meanwhile, the AIP summaries of the Economic, Environment, and Institutional sector were presented on the second day of the meeting.

The Institute of Politics and Governance meanwhile conducted a post-activity processing among the participating CSOs to assess their overall understanding of the total resource requirements for the appropriation of all the work and financial plans of the city government.

The AIP workshop has been identified by the local government of Pasig as a mechanism to continuously employ a participatory governance through ensuring that the local special bodies such as the CDC fulfills a functional role.

It also promotes transparency which strengthens the participation of CSOs and other public organizations in the local government programs.

On Tuesday, May 23, the CDC Resolution 2023 - 003 entitled “A Resolution Approving the Annual Investment Program (AIP) for CY 2024 of the City Government of Pasig and Recommending its Adoption by the Sangguninang Panlungsod" has already been approved during the 2nd Full CDC meeting.

The Pasig City Council is expected to give their approval of the 2024 AIP on June 7 in accordance with the Synchronized Local Planning and Budgeting Calender of the Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1, Series of 2016. (PIA-NCR)
