RDC-XI unveils Davao Regional Development Plan 2023-2028

DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Regional Development Council XI formally launched the Davao Regional Development Plan 2023–2028, May 23, at the Mapua Malayan Colleges Mindanao here.

RDC chairperson and Davao Oriental Gov. Corazon Malanyaon led the launching program, which was graced by Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Undersecretary for Service Continuity Mark Cristeo Gimenez, Secretary Ma. Belen Acosta of the Mindanao Development Authority, national government agencies and local government officials, as well as private sector representatives, among others.

Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan of the National Economic and Development Authority was the keynote speaker during the event, who addressed the attendees virtually.

The Davao Regional Development Plan 2023–2028 serves as the region’s overall blueprint in development planning for the next six years, geared towards a long-term vision, pursuing the region’s sustained recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and transforming it into a more progressive, broad-based, and strong Davao Region.

 The Plan aims at restoring job creation and hastening poverty reduction to help the region’s economy maintain its national position as among the five fastest-growing regional economies in the Philippines.

“This institution will be enjoined to take on researches identified in our plan to address the sectoral development, thus, by doing so, more responsive interventions may be identified to address the development issues in due of this year and onwards to August, September and December, ” NEDA-XI Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim stressed in her speech on the strategies and ways forward of the agency in implementing the DRDP 2023 – 2028.

She added that "these activities would involve the mobilization of the entire Council and its partner agencies down to the provinces and school campuses for the massive dissemination of our plan."

NEDA-XI aspires to inculcate in every Filipino the “Ambisyon Natin 2040,” a vision crafted in 2015 as a guide for development planning and shall be anchored on the DRDP 2023 – 2028 as the overall goal to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle, secure future and strong family and community ties.

DRDP 2023 – 2028 is also anchored on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2023-2028 and the 8-point socio-economic development agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., composed of 17 chapters highlighting the recommendations on the overall direction of the spatial development of Davao region.

The plan will be pursuing critical transformations in digitalization, public-private partnership (PPP), servicification, dynamic innovation ecosystem, enhanced connectivity, and greater collaboration between local and national government. (Franchette Delfin/PIA Davao)
