NEA monitors progress of TIELCO's projects to electrify 16 sitios

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) -- Engineers from the National Electrification Administration (NEA) recently visited Tablas Island Electric Cooperative (TIELCO) to monitor the progress of the Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) aimed at bringing electricity to sixteen unenergized sitios within TIELCO's coverage.

On May 24, Nonilon V. Mendoza and Jonas F. Salvador, engineers from the Total Electrification and Renewable Energy Development Department (TEREDD) of NEA, conducted an assessment of the ongoing 2022 SEP Projects in TIELCO.

The SEP Projects in TIELCO's franchise area are part of the national government's initiative to provide electric line extensions to underserved communities. Through the SEP Program, government funds are allocated to NEA and then downloaded to electric cooperatives for implementation.

The focus of these projects is to electrify sixteen sitios that currently lack access to electricity within TIELCO's coverage.

This effort aims to improve the lives of the residents in these communities by providing them with a reliable and sustainable power supply.

As part of the SEP Program, indigent households within these sitios will benefit from free house wiring materials and labor costs, ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the community can also enjoy the benefits of electrification. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa-Romblon)
