CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — The Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) CALABARZON has placed government health workers under code white alert in response to the possible effects of typhoon Betty.
“We have raised the alert status due to the track duration,” DOH- CALABARZON Regional Director Ariel Valencia said.
The white alert was raised beginning May 25 until May 29.
“Due to this, we encourage all provinces (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon)) to raise their code alert as their Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices deem appropriate for monitoring and response to the possible effects of the Super Typhoon,” Valencia added.
Under the code white status, medical personnel are “on call for immediate mobilization” to ensure the readiness of the hospital to respond to any emergency.
Meanwhile, the DOH advised Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in health personnel (DRRM-H) to activate and maintain 24-hour operation of their Emergency Operation center/ One Hospital
Health emergency response teams were also placed on standby for immediate deployment while medical supplies, water, sanitation, hygiene and nutrition provisions have been prepositioned.
The DOH guarantees that responders are vaccinated while observing Covid-19 health protocols like donning of gloves and face masks, frequent hand sanitation and distribution of face masks at evacuation centers to both vulnerable and general population. (DOH IV-A)
