With 35,600 registered municipal fishing boats and 251 catcher commercial fishing vessels, Region 6 logged 334,846 metric tons (MT) of fish production as of the 4th quarter of 2022.

Of this volume, aquaculture contributes the largest with 148,219 MT (44%), while municipal capture and commercial capture follow with 113,121 MT (34%) and 73,506 MT (22%), respectively.

The top products of aquaculture in the region are milkfish, seaweeds, and oysters; blue swimming crab, Indian sardines, and squid for municipal capture; and Indian sardines, round scad, and big-eyed scad for commercial capture.

DA-BFAR 6 also underscored their training for fish processing and culture technologies, fisheries scholarship programs such as the Fisherfolk Children Educational Grant (FCEG) and Fisheries Industry Leaders Grant (FILG), and the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD), among other programs and services.
