DAVAO CITY (PIA)-- The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Saturday, May 27, formally launched the "PagbaBAGO: A million learners and trees campaign" in the satellite offices of the OVP.
These satellite offices are in Davao, Cebu, Zamboanga, Surigao, Tacloban, Bacolod, Dagupan, Isabela, Bicol Region, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, and the extension office in Lipa City, Batangas.
PagbaBAGo promotes the value of basic education and the importance of dental health among schoolchildren. A million backpacks containing school supplies and dental kits will be distributed to learners across the country.
“Inisyatibo po ito ng Office of the Vice President na mabigyan ang isang milyong kabataan sa buong bansa ng learning materials at dental kits na laman ng pinamamahagi naming PagbaBAGo bags. Dito naka-angkla ang aming adbokasiya ng kahalagahan ng edukasyon at disiplina sa mga kabataan,” Vice President Sara Duterte said in her message at the launch.
The Vice President hopes that the children will be inspired in their studies and take to heart their dreams to finish education and become professionals.
Vice President Duterte personally attended the PagbaBAGo launching at the Mandaue City Sports Complex in Cebu Province.
Also part of the advocacy is raising environmental consciousness among the learners, an integral part of the campaign is the planting of one million trees in different parts of the country.
“Kasama rin sa ating adbokasiya ay pukawin ang kamalayan ng mga kabataan sa kahalagahan ng kalikasan sa ating buhay ngayon at sa ating kabuhayan,” the Vice President said in her message.

The Davao Region launch was held on May 27 at the Carmen Gymnasium, Municipality of Carmen, province of Davao del Norte. Around 1,000 school bags were distributed to the learners during the activity. The Davao leg of the tree planting activity will be set on a future date and is planned to be held in Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur.
Gracing the Carmen leg of the PagbaBAGo launching were OVP Assistant Chief of Staff Asst. Sec. Lemuel Ortonio, OVP Legal Affairs Division chief Atty. Emily Rose Torrentira, and OVP Davao Satellite Office Manager Generose Tecson. Representing the host local government was Carmen Vice Mayor Marchell Perandos. (RGA/PIA XI)
