BARMM solon offers free eye cataract operation in LDS

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--As part of his medical outreach program this year, Member of the Parliament (MP) Khalid M. Hadji Abdullah conducted a free eye cataract operation in Lanao del Sur, targeting 200 indigent patients with cataracts.

Ashari M. Lantud, Legislative Staff Officer of the MP, said the program called "Oplan Pangalawang Paningin" aims to help people who have difficulty with their eyesight.

"Goal dito ni MP Khalid Hadji Abdullah na para doon sa mga matatanda na hindi nakakakita at hindi nakakabasa ng Qur-an na by this time makapagbasa na sila ng Qur-an. 'Yan 'yung pinakamain goal nito na makakatulong sa kanila para hindi na sila nahihirapang makakita. Makapagbasa na rin sila ng Qur-an at maayos na yung pagpray nila during Salah," he said.

(MP Khalid Hadji Abdullah's goal here is for the elderly who cannot see and cannot read the Qur'an to be able to read the Qur'an by this time. That is the main goal: to help them so that they no longer have difficulty seeing. They can now read the Qur'an, and they can pray properly during Salah)

Accordingly, last week's activity was the third batch of operations the MP's Office conducted. The first batch was held in March, and the second batch in April. Another batch is scheduled this month. A total of P2 million was allocated for the program.

The free eye cataract operation is conducted in partnership with the Mindalano Hospital and MP Kadil Sinolinding Jr., who operated on the patients.

The said program is open to indigent people, old or young, who have cataracts and are willing to undergo surgery. After the operation, those who have been operated on undergo orientation regarding the medicines given to them and the follow-up check-up one month after the operation. (JND/PIA Lanao del Sur)
