SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Ilocos prepared a series of activities for its 7th anniversary and in celebration of National Information and Communications Technology (NICT) Month.
This year’s theme is: “Connecting Communities, Enriching Lives, Forging a Digital Future for the Philippines.”
It is anchored to the vision and programs of Secretary Ivan John Uy that focus on four vital focus areas such as digital innovation and inclusion, digital governance, digital workforce competitiveness, and digital infrastructure and cybersecurity.
The month-long celebration will feature different activities and events focused on emphasizing the importance of pushing digital transformation and progress across various sectors.
In the first week, the activities will showcase the importance of digital innovation and promote inclusive approaches to digital transformation.
Week 2 will highlight the significance of good governance and improving public services through ICT.
The third week will emphasize the importance of developing a competent and skilled workforce in the digital age.
Week 4 will focus on the crucial role of digital infrastructure and cybersecurity in advancing progress.
The calendar of activities for the month-long celebration of NICT Month.
DICT Ilocos regional director Engr. Reynaldo Sy encouraged government agencies, local government units, private sectors, and other stakeholders to join the celebration by raising awareness about the importance of ICT and advocating inclusivity.
“We extend our invitation to individuals, organizations, and institutions to actively participate in the diverse range of events, seminars, and workshops organized during this month. It is an excellent opportunity to learn, share knowledge, and collaborate with like-minded individuals in the ICT field,” said Sy.
He added, “Together, we can shape a future where technology enhances our lives while safeguarding our privacy and security.”
ICT Month is an annual celebration every June to highlight the crucial role that ICT plays in various social and economic spheres.
