PhilHealth 6 highlights UHC mandate, KonSulTa package

ILOILO CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) Regional Office 6 conducted a Summit and KonSulTa Member Registration at the Iloilo Convention Center in Iloilo City, June 3.

The event highlighted the current and enhanced programs, benefits, and services most especially the simultaneous conduct of the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (KonSulTa) member registration and profiling nationwide.

The program also featured the PhilHealth KonSulTa first patient encounter of the participants from the employed sector with the present PhilHealth partner KonSulTa healthcare providers in Iloilo City.

Dr. Francisco E. Sarmiento III of the PhilHealth Primary Care Benefits Team and Quality Assurance Group graced the said event together with PhilHealth Region 6 acting regional vice president Janet A. Monteverde.

“True enough, primary healthcare is an essential component for disease prevention, health education, promotion, and maintenance. All of these and more are covered by the PhilHealth KonSulTa benefit package,” said Monteverde.

PhilHealth KonSulTa, as the PhilHealth chief stressed, is an expanded primary care benefit package with the primary goal of preventing diseases and detecting any medical condition in order to provide early intervention for such.

Sarmiento, on the other hand, discussed the mandates of PhilHealth under the Universal Healthcare (UHC) Act and the updates on the implementation of their comprehensive outpatient benefit package.

Meanwhile, Anthony Mark Baban of the Antique Provincial Health Office, representing Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Ric Noel Naciongayo, shared the initiatives of the province in implementing the PhilHealth KonSulTa and other UHC programs. To note, the province of Antique was able to register all of its 18 rural health units and nine hospitals as KonSulTa healthcare providers.

Capping the program, PhilHealth 6 Field Operations Division Bien Officer-in-Charge Paul S. Obordo emphasized the

role of all sectors and stakeholders in the attainment of the vision of UHC.

This event was also part of the year-long 28th anniversary celebration of PhilHealth with the theme “Pinalawak at mga Bagong Benepisyo para sa Mamamayang Filipino.” (AAL/FRG/PIA6)
