QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The city government of Parañaque inaugurated on Friday (June 2) the recently built intensive care unit (ICU) and tertiary diagnostic laboratory in Ospital ng Parañaque 1 (OSPAR 1).
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by City Mayor Eric Olivarez together with District 1 Representative Edwin Olivarez as well as Councilors Marvin Santos, Pablo “Paolo” Olivarez II, Toki Baes, Tin Esplana, and Rico Golez.
The construction of the said hospital facilities is in response to the growing medical needs of the residents, according to the local chief executive.
This, as OSPAR 1 presently records an occupancy rate of 80 to 90% which has been projected to increase with the planned establishment of the Women and Children’s Hospital near the public medical facility.
As a registered nurse aside from being a teacher and a local government leader, Mayor Eric also championed the doctors, nurses, and all the staff of OSPAR 1 under the directive of Hospital Director Dr. Jefferson Pagsisihan, in recognition of their effective and efficient delivery of essential healthcare services among residents.
Last April 21, the local government likewise spearheaded the inauguration of the dialysis center in OSPAR 1 to further facilitate a responsive healthcare system in the city.
Meanwhile, Mayor Eric shared that the dialysis center at OSPAR 2 in Barangay Don Bosco will soon be open to the public after the Department of Health - National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) issues the permit to operate. A total of 9 dialysis machines will be installed in the hospital for the use of dialysis patients.
On the other hand, the Parañaque Health Plan Office is set to conduct a free assisted PhilHealth enrolment to non-member residents, particularly those persons with disabilities (PWDs).
This project is initiated by Mayor Eric in close cooperation with the Health Plan Office under Dr. Ma. Loreleigh Obed.
The assisted member registration is available from June to July 2023 on a scheduled basis per barangay.
