ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) – The Philippines and the Japanese government are planning to explore the possibility of putting up a Wind Turbine Project in the town of Concepcion.
The Mimaropa Regional Development Council (RDC) has given its full endorsement to the Romblon Wind Turbine Project, a significant renewable energy initiative set to take place in the said municipality.
The project holds a particular significance as Concepcion, popularly known as Sibale Island is classified as a Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area (GIDA).
The proposal, which was initially put forth by the National Electrification Administration (NEA), received support from the government of Japan under Non-Project Grant Aid.
With a planned capacity of 60KW, the Romblon Wind Turbine Project aims to harness the power of wind energy as a sustainable source of electricity.
The undertaking is scheduled to be completed within eight months, contingent upon approval and endorsement from the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
The project is one of the only projects proposed during the recent Mimaropa Regional Development Council Meeting held in Quezon City. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa-Romblon)
