Cebu City, Cebu, June 8 (PIA) - The Cebu City Government, Cultural and Heritage Affairs Office (CHAO), and partner government agencies will participate in the simultaneous nationwide flag-raising ceremony for the 125th Independence Day Celebration on June 12, 2023.
This year’s theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan (Freedom, Future, History)" is Cebu’s first Independence Day celebration under Pres. Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos, Jr.'s administration.
It is also the first for Mayor Michael “Mike” Rama as the duly elected city mayor anew.
The celebration will start with a Holy Mass at 5:00 a.m. at the Fuente Osmeña Circle on June 12.
A civic-military parade with Barangayan contingents will traverse the streets of Fuente Osmeña going to Plaza Independencia for the flag-raising ceremony and the commemorative program.
Rama will lead the simultaneous flag-raising ceremony at 8:00 a.m. in Plaza Independencia.
The activity is open for both private and public sectors as parking spaces for the participants of the activity will also be provided.
Various law enforcement agencies will also be present in the event.(MYP/PIA7 Cebu)
