DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, June 7 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE7) has rolled out its Technical and Advisory Visit (TAV) in a bid to guide and assist the micro-establishments in Negros Oriental to become compliant with labor laws.
A total of 477 micro-establishments in the province have participated in technical and advisory sessions from DOLE.
Ma. Teresa Tanquiamco, officer-in-charge of DOLE here, said the agency successfully conducted TAV activities at the 2nd Floor of the Public Market Building in Dumaguete City.
The same TAV activity was also launched in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapulapu in Cebu province which were participated in by 122 micro-establishments early last month.
For Cebu province, the DOLE has started conducting the TAV sessions in the municipality of Daanbantayan with 75 micro-establishments, while the Bohol Field Office has started coordinating with the various local government units for the conduct of the TAV.
“In line with the strategic directions of DOLE, we now delve into the provision of a just, inexpensive and expeditious correction of noted violations of establishments and secure their compliance with labor standards through the TAV," said DOLE7 Regional Director Lilia Estillore.
The DOLE is now promoting a developmental approach among micro-establishments to ensure to understand the rules and regulations that establishments have to abide, and “they are made aware of their accountabilities and responsibilities as employers; and they observe and adhere to labor laws voluntarily,” Estillore said.
Under the TAV set-up are micro-establishments or those that employ 1 to 9 employees.
For this year, DOLE7 will conduct the TAV for around 9,000 micro-establishments in the region.
Through the TAV, Estillore hopes they can foster a culture of voluntary compliance with labor laws among these micro-establishments in Central Visayas.
During the TAV, the labor inspectors or the assistant labor inspectors, as representatives of the DOLE secretary, shall provide micro-establishments with labor education focusing on the General Labor Standards, Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS), Child and Family Welfare Program, Productivity Toolbox, and other DOLE policies and programs.
