MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--As another brand new city health unit has been opened in this city, Mayor Majul Gandamra was delighted as he saw how this infrastructure could immensely impact their health system.
He stressed that this effort was timely, as when it was fully operationalized, it would fill their need for augmentation for health facilities and bolster the provision of quality health services to their citizens.
Gandamra was confident that with the establishment of the city health unit, a lot of needy residents could benefit.
"Talagang napakaganda ng proyektong ito dahil mas mapapalawak namin ang serbisyo sa aming constituents in terms of the delivery of health services, lalo na nitong nagdaang Marawi siege and pandemic. Isa sa mga challenge ay ang health services," he said.
(This project is really wonderful because we can expand our services for our constituents in terms of the delivery of health services, especially with the past Marawi siege and pandemic. One of the challenges was really the health services)
The new city health unit was built through the combined efforts of the Department of Health (DOH), Ministry of Health (MOH), and city government here with its City Health Office (CHO).
Its funding was drawn from the budget allocated by the Asian Development Bank under the urban climate change resilience trust fund.
While the operation of the finished initiative would be lodged with the city government, Gandamra committed to continuously supporting the performance of the facility so that more people could enjoy it in the long run.
"Rest assured na itong facility na ito ay maayos na iooperate ng ating CHO upang sa ganoon ay makabigay kami ng serbisyo sa aming constituents. Ito ay bukas sa lahat ng ating constituency dito sa Marawi City," he said.
