Baguio LGU, Filipino – Chinese Community renew commitment for stronger ties

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) - - The City Government of Baguio and Filipino – Chinese community  here affirmed  their commitment for  stronger partnership through the celebration of the 22nd Filipino – Chinese Friendship Day in June 10.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Baguio Filipino – Chinese Community Executive Committee Chairperson  Peter Ng with Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Laoag City Consul Sun Weidong led other officials and guests  in the celebration held at the Filipino – Chinese Friendship Park inside the Botanical Garden here in the city.

Ng said the  celebration of the 22nd Filipino – Chinese Friendship Day provides an opportunity to once again renew friendship between  the Filipino and the Chinese communities in Baguio.

Magalong highlighted the power of unity and collaboration in enriching the culture, economy and social fabric between the Philippines and China and the people of both countries.

Honorable Weidong, in his keynote message, expressed gratitude to the City Government of Baguio and the Baguio Filipino – Chinese Community for their important contribution in promoting friendship between China and the Philippines and their  people.

He cited that the strong ties between China and the Philippines  have been bringing bountiful benefits for  both countries  as well as positive contribution to world peace and stability.

The simple but symbolic program included ribbon cutting of the garden, Dragon dance, releasing of friendship doves and on – the – spot art sketching of the officials and guest, in partnership with the Creative Baguio Community.

In behalf of the Baguio Filipino – Chinese community, Ng  thank the Baguio and the Consulate of the People’s Republic of China in Laoag City for their unwavering support. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)

“Our shared history is a testament of the power of unity and collaboration and as we look back on the challenges we have overcome, it defines  inspiration and strength on the determination of our ancestors,” Magalong said.

“Today as we celebrate the 22nd Filipino -Chinese Friendship Day,  let us re-affirm our commitment to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that unite us. Together, we can build a future rooted in inclusivity, honor  and understanding, ” he added.
