
QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The regional office of the Department of Interior & Local Government in the National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) DILG-NCR met with the representatives of SafeTravelPH and LocationMind on June 8, 2023, to discuss a future partnership and collaboration in enhancing the Poverty Impact and Vulnerability Evaluation (PIVE) Tool developed by LocationMind.
Representing DILG-NCR during the meeting were Regional Director Maria Lourdes L. Agustin, CESO III, Local Government Monitoring and Evaluation Division (LGMED) Division Chief Raymond De Asis, and Development Management Officers Yasser Gutierrez and Leonides Frago, Jr.
LocationMind is a technology venture of the Shibasaki Laboratory of the University of Tokyo, which has been conducting research on spatial information engineering.
It received a grant from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to support the development of the PIVE Tool.
Mr. Deepanshu Agarwal, LocationMind Consultant, presented the PIVE Tool aiming to assist policymakers, planners, and other stakeholders in disaster management and urban planning.
The Tool utilizes multi-scalar data, including mobile, satellite imaging, census, and field survey data.
By overlaying and aggregating these data sets, the Tool can generate granular poverty maps showing spatial and temporal patterns of poverty, exposure, and vulnerability.
Among the distinguished guests who also joined the meeting were: Project Officer Erris Sanciangco and University of the Philippines - National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) Professor Noriel Tiglao for SafeTravelPH; Product Manager Satoshi Miyazawa, Consultant Mariko Shibasaki, and Data Scientist Shoji Ueta for LocationMind; Glodal, Inc.
