LAGAWE, Ifugao(PIA) - - Local Government Units (LGUs) and national line agencies in the provinc joined the nation in commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Philippine Independence Day with the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
Governor Jerry Dalipog led the wreath laying ceremony at the Rizal Monument in Lagawe town followed by a program attended by capitol employees, veterans, Girl Scouts of the Philippines and representatives from national line agencies.
Dalipog underscored the heroism of all the people who worked for the country’s independence . “Let’s honor the sacrifices, valor and patriotism of our forefathers who have shown and selflessly died for. These values paved way for us to experience the gift of democracy and freedom which we now enjoy,” he said.
The governor added that while working together and moving forward, it should be also instilled in the hearts and minds of the children the passion of loving the country as tribute to the present heroes.
Police Provincial Office Director Colonel Davy Vicente Limmong reiterated that the nation’s freedom was won through the relentless sacrifices of great individuals who stood united against oppression.
“It is a testament that indomitable spirits of Filipino people who refuse to be subdued and instead choose to rise in pursuit of liberty,” Limmong said.
Meanwhile, the LGUs of Kiangan and Mayoyao spearheaded civic parade around thir respective Poblacion to celebrate Independence Day
Kiangan Mayor Raldis Andre Bulayungan lauded the continuous cooperation and support of his constituents for the success of the activity. “We look forward for a bigger community involvement in the future like the schools so that our children will see the significance of this occasion,” he stated.
