The downtrend of Aklan’s overall inflation in May 2023 was caused by transport which registered 1.3 percent in said month, down from 4.3 percent in April.

Catubuan said under the transport commodity, gasoline was the primary cause of the decrease of inflation with -7.9 percent last month, down to -14.7 percent during the reference period.

PSA-Aklan also revealed that the purchasing power of the peso remains stable at P0.84 during the reference period.

Simply put, this means that an Aklanon needs an additional P190.00 in May 2023 to buy the same P1,000.00-worth of goods and services bought in 2018. (AGP/VGV/PIA Aklan)
