Caloocan pushes for inclusive healthcare to various social sectors

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) – The Caloocan City government not only ensures the consistent implementation of its healthcare programs but also the inclusivity of these services to all the social sectors in the city.

For the month of June,  the local government led the provision of various healthcare services starting from the medical and dental mission at Barangay 69 through the Caloocan City Medical Department and the City Health Department (CHD).

Last June 12, the local health workers of the city also conducted house-to-house pediatric vaccination among children aged 0 to 59 months against measles, rubella, and polio to ramp up the  supplemental immunization activity of the Department of Health “Chikiting Ligtas.”

Following this initiative, the city government offered laboratory test services to public school teachers on June 13 including free complete blood count (CBC), urinalysis, and chest X-ray. This adds to the free diagnostic mammogram screening that is being provided in the Caloocan City North Medical Center (CCNMC) among women aged 50 years old and above towards the promotion of early breast cancer detection and prevention.

Moreover, on June 16, the Caloocan CHD facilitated the dispensation of free STI (sexually transmitted infections) screening and HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) discussion among the members of the LGBTQIA+ community in line with the celebration of Pride Month in the city this June 2023 that is celebrated with the theme “Kulayan ang Kankaloo: Resisting Inequality, Promoting Diversity.”

According to the local government, this project aims to push for inclusive healthcare and to let the community know that the city is one with them in their call for social equality.

“Pinagsusumikapan po namin sa Pamahalaang Lungsod na ilapit sa lahat ng mga barangay sa Caloocan ang ating mga libreng serbisyong medikal upang mas mapakinabangan po ito ng mga Batang Kankaloo (The local government of Caloocan is striving to bring the free medical services closer to the barangays for the benefit of all residents),” said City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan.
