Labor chief cites service, sacrifice as DOLE-NCR marks 45th Founding Anniversary

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma cited the service and sacrifice of the Department’s regional office in the National Capital Region as they hold kick-off event in celebration of its  45th Founding Anniversary on June 2, 2023, at Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City.

The labor chief also lauded DOLE-NCR for organizing such a momentous event despite the heavy and demanding workloads they have in their respective offices.

Established in 1978, DOLE-NCR started its month-long activity with a Sports Fest, participated by different Divisions of the Regional Office, together with its six Field Offices (FOs), including CAMANAVA FO, MAKATI-PASAY FO, MANILA FO, MUNTAPARLAS FO, PAPAMAMARISAN FO, and QUEZON CITY FO.

The labor chief said he considered the month-long activity as a “family day” since employees had the chance to showcase their wit and talents while building sportsmanship and camaraderie.

“Isang family day para sa aking pananaw na kung saan tayo po ay magkakaroon ng pagpapakita [o] pagtatagisan ng talino at mga galing,” he said.

Apart from the oath of sportsmanship, Laguesma also supervised a forum where issues and concerns regarding the program implementation of the DOLE-NCR were discussed.

During the event, Regional Director Atty. Sarah Buena S. Mirasol thanked extended DOLE-NCR employees for their services in implementing various programs and adhering to the objectives of the office.

Mirasol said over the past few years of serving the public, the labor department has overcome various challenges because of the dedication, excellence, and hard work of all their employees.

She added that the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic strengthened DOLE-NCR personnel’s resolve to serve the public better.

The 45th founding anniversary of the DOLE-NCR will be celebrated throughout the month June with activities that include sports competitions, such as basketball, volleyball, table tennis, darts, bowling, badminton, and mobile legends.
