174 job seekers hired-on-the-spot during Kalayaan job fair

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) — In commemoration of the 125th Philippine Independence Day, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office 2 has organized simultaneous Job Fairs dubbed overall as "Kalayaan Job Fair", while carrying the theme "Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan 2023," on June 12, 2023.

The Kalayaan job fair took place in three (3) different locations in the region to include SM City Tuguegarao in Cagayan, SM Cauayan City, and SM Santiago City in Isabela.

According to the DOLE new release, at least 99 employers participated in the Kalayaan job fair offering 4,107 job vacancies.

This attracted a total of 793 registered applicants, 174 of which were hired-on-the-spot, resulting in a 21.94% hiring rate.

Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Jesus Elpidio B. Atal, Jr., said that these job vacancies serves as a pathway to a better future for numerous job seekers.

Atal also emphasized the importance of providing job opportunities, fostering livelihoods, and uplifting the workforce.

Moreover, the DOLE also conducted TUPAD payout worth P21.2M, benefiting a total of 8,276 beneficiaries and a livelihood assistance in the form of starter kits worth P13.2M were also distributed to 712 beneficiaries in this region.

The department also invited 10 DOLE-assisted associations and 5 DTI-assisted associations from different provinces in the region to showcase and market their products as part of lined activities. (MJPT/DOLE Press Release)
