Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines awardees honored

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) --The Philippine National Police (PNP) celebrated the exceptional achievements of its esteemed women in uniform at the 1st General Assembly and Fellowship of the Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines (TOPWP) Awardees.

The event, held on June 16, 2023 at Camp Crame, Quezon City, was attended by more than 140 participants, including active and retired TOPWP awardees, members of Zonta Club of Makati Paseo de Roxas Foundation, Inc. and Armscor Philippines, prominent figures and distinguished guests.

Representing PNP Chief, PGen Benjamin Acorda, Jr., PMGen Mario Reyes, the Director for Police Community Relations (TDPCR), delivered the former’s speech highlighting the significance of the occasion.

He expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication and commitment displayed by the policewomen and emphasized the importance of their outstanding service to the nation.

"The Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines (TOPWP) Awardees exemplify excellence and dedication in their respective fields of police work," PMGen Reyes said.

"Their remarkable achievements have brought immense honor and prestige to our organization, shining a positive light on their exceptional performance in critical areas such as investigation, police community relations, traffic management, anti-drug operations, intelligence operations, health services, human resource development, and administrative management," he added.

The TOPWP program, which started in 2002 up to 2022, has recognized 140 outstanding policewomen who have made significant contributions to law enforcement and public service.

The PNP's collaboration with Zonta Club of Makati-Paseo de Roxas Foundation, Inc. presently headed by Ms Moleen Del Rosario, President, and Armscor Philippines headed by Ms Gina Marie Angangco, President, paved the way for the annual search for the TOPWP awardees, celebrating their exemplary dedication and achievements.

The event's Guest of Honor and Speaker, Atty. Benedicta Du Baladad, President of the Management Association of the Philippines, graced the occasion with her presence. Her unwavering support for the ideals represented by the TOPWP program was acknowledged and appreciated by all in attendance.

Acknowledging the significant progress made by women in the police force, PMGen Reyes commended their perseverance and dedication in breaking barriers and taking on leadership roles traditionally held by men. He emphasized their essential role in addressing abuse, discrimination, and violence against vulnerable sectors of society, serving as beacons of strength, compassion, and hope.

The General Assembly and Fellowship served as a catalyst for empowering women police officers to continue their journey towards excellence. By providing a platform for mentoring, inspiring, and empowering others, the assembly enables these exceptional policewomen to have a far-reaching impact, extending beyond their immediate spheres of influence.

PMGen Reyes highlighted the importance of initiatives like the TOPWP program in fostering sustainable projects nationwide and strengthening the PNP's commitment to serving the Filipino people.

He stated, "Through initiatives like these, we can build a competitive, gender-fair, and principled leadership in our organization, ensuring that we continuously serve our fellow citizens with unwavering dedication and integrity."

The event concluded with the launch of the search for the Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines (TOPWP) for the year 2023 by Ms Eleanor Soriano, Chairperson Emeritus, Kabalikat Award- TOPWP. The search aims to recognize and honor policewomen who have exhibited outstanding performance and commitment to their duties, further motivating them to excel in their chosen fields.

The 1st General Assembly and Fellowship of the Ten Outstanding Policewomen of the Philippines (TOPWP) Awardees stands as a testament to the PNP's commitment to promoting gender equality, recognizing exceptional women in law enforcement, and fostering a strong sense of camaraderie within the police force.
