DENR intensifies environmental protection advocacy in CagVal

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) region 2 has intensified its environmental protection advocacy campaigns as part of the observance of the Philippine Environment Month this June.

Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn C. Bambalan said they have conducted series of Environment and Natural Resources Caravans in the different provinces to present the state of the environment and discuss environmental issues of the region.

“We are done with the caravan in the provinces of Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino. Next will be Cagayan and Batanes,” Bambalan said.

She also said DENR 2 has spearheaded the conduct of clean-up drives in rivers and coastal areas in the different municipalities to advocate maintenance of cleanliness and preservation of the region’s bodies of water which is one of the major sources of food and livelihood in the valley.

DENR 2 Regional Executive Director Gwendolyn C. Bambalan presents activities in line with the celebration of the Philippine Environment Month.

She also said there were series of tree planting and tree growing activities in the different municipalities as part also of the National Arbor Day.

“We need to continue planting and growing trees. We do encourage the public to plant in their respective spaces. Please take care also of the planted seedlings so that they will grow well,” Bambalan said.

Aside from these, Bambalan also said they do conduct re-orientations to some Local Government Units on solid waste management to ensure cleanliness in the their respective jurisdictions. (OTB/PIA Region 2)
