OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)--Focusing more on preventive rather than curative care as mandated by the Universal Health Care Law, the Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) Ozamiz City in partnership with the City Government of Oroquieta, held a PhilHealth Summit and Konsulta Member Registration 2023, June 15.
Philhealth Konsulta is a comprehensive outpatient benefit that includes consultation, health risk screening and assessment, laboratory and diagnostic tests, and selected drugs and medicines.
PhilHealth's expanded and responsive healthcare commitment is in pursuit of the Universal Health Care Law, which aims to provide every Filipino equal access to quality health services focusing more on preventive rather than curative care.
Oroquieta Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta urged employees to help the local government unit and, at the same time, use the benefits from Philhealth.
"Instead of giving kini atong packages, especially for manual checkups, to other service providers, atong ihatag sa City Health Office nato para mukita and atong city health laboratory, makapalit ta og bag-o ug moderno nga ekipo kay kini atong laboratory will not only serve our employees in the local government unit, but it will also serve the senior citizens in the city," Acosta said.
During the PhilHealth Summit and Konsulta Member Registration, PhilHealth 10 Accreditation and Quality Assurance Officer Dr. Francis A. Ramos discussed the importance of universal health care and the primary care benefit package that the public may enjoy and experience.
"Importante ang konsulta program kay I-support nato ang first client of health care which is demand karon sa atong country which is typical and regular consult so gusto namo tanang tao nga makahibalo na ang consult doesn't need to be a financial burden sa inyoha because it can now covered sa konsulta."

Local Health Insurance Office-Ozamiz City Chief Fetzi S. Gomilla said the summit and Konsulta Member registration highlight Philhealth’s programs, benefits packages, and services in the context of universal health care.
The current Konsulta primary care benefit package covers patient consultations, laboratory and diagnostic tests, and 21 common medications that can be prescribed according to medical needs.
In Oroquieta City, the Integrated Provincial Health Office and the City Health Office are the two primary health care provider networks that provide access to services. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
