CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga (PIA) --The provincial local government unit vies for this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The DILG sub-regional assessment team has conducted its validation after the PLGU passed the provincial level evaluation.
DILG Provincial Director Anthony Manolo Ballug said the SGLG search adopts the ‘all-in’ assessment approach where LGUs must pass the 10 governance areas.
For the SGLG award, LGUs should pass compliance on Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, and Sustainable Education.
Other governance areas include Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, and Youth Development.
The SGLG is the highest recognition given by DILG to LGUs for excellent delivery of public service under national laws and guidelines.
The annual search is institutionalized under Republic Act 11292 or The Seal of Good Local Governance Act of 2019.
Under the SGLG award, LGUs receive financial assistance in the form of development projects. (JDP/LL-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
