Pag-IBIG Fund targets 400K rider members

DAVAO CITY (PIA)-- The Pag-IBIG Fund is targeting new members from motorcycle riders serving transport network and app-based courier companies.

“Around 400,000 ang target naming na magregister as Pag-IBIG members all around the country,” said Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Marilene Acosta during an interview at the sidelines of the recently held "Pag-IBIG Asenso Rider Raffle Promo" in Ayala Abreeza Mall Davao City.

Acosta said that most of the 15 million Pag-IBIG members are formally employed, the Fund wants those in the informal sector like the riders to enjoy the benefits of Pag-IBIG coverage by registering as members.

“With the Pag-IBIG Asenso Rider Raffle Promo, we hope to encourage more delivery riders to become members so that we can provide even more Filipino workers a secure savings program and affordable home financing,” Acosta said.

The Pag-IBIG Asenso Rider Raffle Promo, which raffles off mobile phones, cash, motorcycle helmets and Yamaha NMax motorcycle units, is one way of attracting the riders to register in the Home Development Mutual Fund or popularly known as Pag-IBIG.

During the Davao launch, hundreds of riders attended the raffle launch held at the activity center of Abreeza Mall  five riders won mobile phones while one lucky rider won twenty thousand pesos in cash prize.

The Pag-IBIG Fund has partnered with transport network & app-based courier companies Angkas, Food Panda, Grab, Lalamove and Pick A Roo to reach out to more riders.

With these partnerships, the delivery riders of the said companies shall have better access to the Pag-IBIG Fund benefits that include its Regular and MP2 Savings programs which provide competitive returns, and its affordable home loan programs to enable them to purchase homes of their own.

Aside from the raffle, the Pag-IBIG Fund has devised ways to make membership registration and payments easier for the rider members.

“Hindi na nila kailangang pumila para magbayad, ngayon gamit ang cellphone nila thru Gcash, PayMaya  and other collection partners (They don’t need to line up to pay they can now use their cellphone pay thru Gcash, PayMaya),” Acosta said. (RGA/PIA Davao City)
