BARMM gov’t lauds IOM-KOICA’s aid for Marawi citizens

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has expressed its delight and commendation for the dedication and hard work displayed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM)-Philippines and its partner, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

This, as the international non-government organizations managed to leave a positive mark on the socio-economic aspect of Marawi with their three-year running project called "Driving Marawi’s Rehabilitation through IDP Support, Community Development and Peaceful Transitional Action."

In his relayed message, BARMM Deputy Chief Minister Ali Solaiman conveyed his heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the United Nations (UN) Migration Office, IOM, KOICA, and the city government of Marawi for their unwavering commitment to the recovery and rehabilitation of the people and communities affected by the 2017 conflict.

He stressed that it is for this reason that he would maintain his full support for the gains of this effort.

“I remain deeply invested in the success of this project,” said Solaiman.

The region’s deputy chief minister recognized that it was through collaborative efforts, such as what was reflected in the project of the IOM and KOICA, that they came together as a community that transcended boundaries and worked towards a shared vision of recovery and progress.

He mentioned that the organizations’ emphasis on livelihood, psychosocial and social cohesion support, and inclusive governance has made a significant difference in the lives of countless individuals in this city.

As such, Solaiman attested that this initiative was indeed instrumental in addressing the needs of the residents impacted by the 2017 firefight.

“The community-driven accomplishments and milestones achieved through this project are also a testament to the resilience and determination of the communities in Marawi City,” he said. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
