BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) - - The Department of Environment and natural Resources (DENR) – Mines and GeoSciences Bureau (MGB) will lead this year’s Stakeholders’ Forum on Responsible Mining in Santiago City next week.
MGB Regional Director Mario Ancheta said the forum in partnership with the mining companies in Cagayan Valley will meet at the Casa Jardin in Santiago City in June 27 to discuss various issues and concerns relative to the growing mining industry in the region.
He said the activity dubbed “Green and Sustainable: A Forum on Responsible Mining” will be participated in by National Government Agencies (NGAs). Media practitioners, Local Government Units (LGUs), academe, environmental groups, mining contractors/permit holders/permittees and other partners.
“This will be a venue for us to share the best practices of our mining industry stakeholders and be updated on their various development initiatives . This will also showcase the various program interventions of our mining industry stakeholders to address Climate Change issues and concerns in their areas of responsibility,” Ancheta said.
He said Cagayan Valley has been a host to various mining projects where their impact on the environment and their efforts in uplifting the lives of its host communities are being closely monitored to ensure their compliance on the national government’s strict regulations under the Mining Law, among others.
