NorMin's dev't plan 2023-2028 gets support from stakeholders

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) -- Officials from Northern Mindanao manifested their support for the implementation of the Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028.

Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia said they will enhance their existing local development plans to ensure that they are in harmony with the regional priorities.

"As representatives of our local government units, we embrace the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Plan with great enthusiasm and commitment. We firmly believe that by ensuring consistency, convergence, and complementation with various local-level development plans, we can contribute to the realization of our region's vision," he said during the launching of the RDP, June 21.

Unabia also committed to mobilize both financial and human resources to help achieve the vision for Northern Mindanao to become an international gateway, a leading agricultural hub, and a major industrial, tourism and trade center in the country.

Mayor Frederick Siao of Iligan City likewise conveyed his support for transforming the plan into reality. "Iliganons support the region’s bid for becoming the leading industrial hub in the country," he said.

He further vowed to collaborate with the national government and the private sector in hoisting Northern Mindanao as a prime investment destination in the country.

Gingoog City Mayor Erick Cañosa, on the other hand, thanked the Regional Development Council (RDC)-X for involving local government units in the formulation of the RDP.

He affirmed his part to carry out plans, programs, projects, and activities that support the attainment of the region’s goals and the 8-point socio-economic agenda of the Marcos administration.

For his part, Cagayan de Oro 1st District Representative Lordan Suan voiced his unwavering support for the RDP which he cited as a testament to the collective commitment to the progress and prosperity of Northern Mindanao.

He also commended the efforts of the RDC-X in crafting the development plan. "This plan reflects our shared vision of an inclusive and prosperous society where no one is left behind. With this plan as our compass, I am confident that our region will thrive and our constituents will enjoy a more prosperous and brighter future," he added.

Similarly, representatives from different sectors manifested their support to the RDP and pledged their commitment to contribute to the attainment of social and economic transformation for a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous society. 

"We, in the academe sector, have long been dedicated in fostering academic excellence, innovation, and societal progress. We recognize the vital role that educational institutions play in regional development, and we are fully prepared to contribute our expertise, resources, and knowledge to support the objectives outlined in the plan," said Lucile Maglasang, president of Our Lady of Triumph Institute of Technology.

For the children's sector, Jarrie Fionna Jacutin, a child representative from the Regional Committee on the Welfare of Children-X, conveyed her appreciation to the RDC-X for including the children and youth in the plan. 

"Like everyone here, we also imagine a future for the Philippines and Northern Mindanao where all citizens enjoy inclusive, social, and transformative development; where everyone’s efforts and interventions are bearing fruit, where all Filipinos have security and prosperity; and most of all where no one is left behind," she stated.

Regional Director Aminoden Guro of Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-Regional Office-10 shared the commitment of regional line agencies to the realization of the RDP goals.

He also gave assurance that his office will embrace innovative and sustainable transportation solutions to enhance connectivity and stimulate trade and tourism in the region. (APB/PIA-10)
