“Ang kagandahan ng mayroon kaming tinatanggap [na pension]…at least nakabili kami ng aming mga kailangang gamot. ‘Yun lang naman talaga ang number one sa amin, yung sustenance at panggastos…sa aming medication. Salamat naman sa gobyerno at kahit papaano…mayroong natatanggap” (The advantage of receiving pension is we are able to buy our medicines. That is our number one priority – our sustenance and our medications. We are grateful to the government because we received support), Madriaga said.
As of June 26, 91.5% of the beneficiaries in San Jose have received social pension. Mary Gale Andrade of the MTO reminded those who have not claimed theirs to report to the MSWDO for assessment and validation before claiming their pension from their office until July 15.
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) spearheaded the nine-day activity from June 13 to 23, scheduling clustered payouts to accommodate 39 barangays equivalent to 49 senior citizens associations in the municipality.
