LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte (PIA) – The City Government of Batac held various activities and programs to celebrate the 16th charter anniversary of the city on June 23.
In a ceremony held at the Imelda Cultural Center, Mayor Albert Chua presented the four backhoes that were acquired by the city government. The said heavy equipment will be used in cleaning up waterways and to further facilitate agricultural development in the city.
“The newly-acquired backhoes will be readily available for our constituents to improve their way of life,” said Chua.
Also, the city government provided a platform for young artists to showcase their talents and skills in various events such as dance and art workshops, photography contest, on-the-spot painting competition, table-setting contest, among others.
A fashion and event styling was also held to feature the artistry and creativity of local talents in the city when it comes to creating the perfect design and style for any occasion.
Apart from art competitions, the city government has also inaugurated series of key educational infrastructure upgrades.
These projects include the new multi-purpose covered courts at Parangopong Elementary School and Pimentel Elementary School, extension of covered courts at Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School and Batac National High School, water system at Biningan Elementary School, and the multi-purpose cover at Barangay Mabaleng Community Center.
In his message, the city mayor assured its constituents of the local government’s commitment in implementing better learning facilities and education resources.
Aside from this, the city government also hosted a mass wedding for 40 couples on June 28.
These couples were granted free application of marriage and solemnizing fees, as well as provision of wedding rings, bouquets and corsage, cake, gift, wedding portrait, and free lunch for their immediate family and sponsors.
With all these programs for the people of Batac City, Chua praised the resilience and unity of the residents that have contributed to the development of the city throughout the years. (JCR/MJTAB PIA Ilocos Norte)
