Deliver to FRs as promised, DavNor Guv appeals to gov’t agencies

DAVAO DEL NORTE (PIA)- -  Governor Edwin I. Jubahib recently cautioned against failing to deliver the goods and services promised to former rebels (FRs) who, he  said, were counting on those assurances of the government as basis of their surrender .

“So,  kailangan na maibigay natin sa kanila ang pina-promise natin (we need to give them what we had promised) from  the national down to provincial and to the local government units . Dahil ‘pag hindi natin to maibigay, mawalan sila ng tiwala sa ating  gobyerno na parang ginagamit lang sila, para bang pinagsabihan lang  sila na ‘wala’ (Because if  we fail, they would be losing confidence with the government, as if they were being used, and were told that there is nothing),”  he said in a  recent media interview.

Jubahib also stressed this point during the recent Davao del Norte Peace and Order Council (PPOC) meeting, where he appealed to  all  local chief executives and national line agencies to do what they can to deliver the promised services to areas that were once under insurgency influence.

Meanwhile, Jubahib said the provincial government can extend support for the projects and activities of the law enforcement  agencies and the Philippine Army with the  recently  approved PPOC Resolution to release and use the Peace and Order funds for specific programs and projects.

“At least makalihok na ta sa atong (At least, we can now move the) Peace and Order Program sa province (of the province), and also the crime prevention

for our province;  so apil na ang (included  here is the ) drug prevention support for PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Authority). All the men in uniform, atong mahatagan sa atong (we can extend) support coming from the PPOC and confidential fund,” he added during  the media interview.

On the other hand,  the governor revealed that Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) chairperson Sebastian Z. Duterte, City Mayor of Davao City had endorsed to the PLGU of Davao del Norte former rebels that the RPOC chair would like  to reside at the  Freedom Residences located in Tagum City.

Hre explained the Freedom Residences as among the projects of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte run as part of implementing the Executive Order 70 on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC).

During the recent PPOC meeting,   Jubahib  said that the provincial government of Davao del Norte would extend  the assistance to do the necessary repair works of housing units at the Freedom Residences for the FRs to occupy.  (JMDA/PIA Davao del Norte)
