TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan (PIA) - - The Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) in Tuguegarao City kicked off last week the roll out of the Bivalent Booster among its employees - the first in the Cagayan Valley Region.
According to CVMC Medical Chief Dr. Glenn Mathew Baggao, the bivalent vaccines seek to provide protection against the Omicron variant.
He said it will be provided as third booster shots among priority groups including eligible health workers and senior citizens.
Aside from Baggao, Cagayan Valley Center for Health Development (CVCHD) Regional Director Amelita Pangilinan and CVMC Chief Medical Professional Staff Dr. Cherry Lou Antonio, were among the first recipients of the vaccine in the region to show to the public that the Bivalent Booster is safe.
The bivalent boosters were first released in the US in the last quarter of 2022.
These boosters were reformulated to target both the original strain and the more contagious Omicron variant, which emerged in November 2021. (ALM/MDCT/PIA Region 2)
