DOST NegOr opens 2023 Junior Level Science Scholarships application

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, June 26 (PIA) -- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Negros Oriental has started accepting applicants for the 2023 Junior Level Science Scholarships (JLSS) through a designated online portal.

Third year college students in the province who are interested to apply for the scholarship programs must log on to https://www.science-scholarships.ph/ and access the e-scholarship application.

Applicants should have a valid email address, working cellphone number, and a stable internet connection before accessing the website.

Candidates should be a natural-born Filipino citizen, an incoming regular third-year college student for SY 2023-2024, with a general weighted average of 83% or its equivalent in every semester and with no failing grade for the whole first year and first semester of the applicant’s second year in college, must be in good health, and of good moral character.

DOST’s JLSS is open to all third-year college students enrolled in any of DOST’s identified science and technology priority courses regardless of socio-economic status.

Successful applicants must continue to enroll in the DOST-SEI approved institution or college or university with CHED-compliant programs where the applicant is originally studying but is not allowed to transfer to another university or shift to another degree program.

Part of the benefits of being a DOST-scholar include the agency pays P20,000 tuition subsidy per semester (for students enrolled in private universities or colleges), monthly stipend of P7,000 for a ten-month period per school year, book allowance of P5,000 per semester, and thesis allowance at an outright grant of P10,000.

Other benefits include health accident insurance, transportation allowance for scholars with permanent home address outside their school province, and a graduation allowance after graduation.

Deadline of application is on July 28, 2023.

The qualifying examination will be held on Aug. 26 and 27, 2023.
