Engr. Edita Manuel, the district engineer of DPWH Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office, said the program will provide nutritious food to grade one to six undernourished children starting July 10.
“The program is a regular activity initiated by employees of DPWH-Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office that aims to help undernourished children so they can grow healthy and strong,” Manuel said.
She said the program will be funded by the contributions of the employees and non-governmental organizations who partnered with the department for the feeding program.
Manuel said the feeding program is also in support of this year’s celebration of Nutrition Month with the theme, “Healthy diet gawing affordable for all!”.
Aside from the feeding program, Manuel said school supplies will also be given to chosen pupils as part of their gift-giving activity to help underprivileged children to have the needed decent school supplies.
The school children will receive school supplies consisting of bags, notebooks, pencils, umbrellas, and raincoats among others.
Likewise, Manuel expressed her gratitude to the efforts of their employees not only for improving the lives of the public they serve through infrastructure development but also for alleviating the burdens of other people through feeding programs and gift-giving activities.
