DSWD XII assists 48,377 individuals in crisis in Soccsksargen region

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) --The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region XII has distributed over P280 million in financial aid through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program.

Nanig Sanoy, head of DSWD XII's crisis intervention section, said a total of 48,377 individuals in the Soccsksargen region have been recipients of AICS from January to May 2023.

She said this includes 15,799 clients from Koronadal City, 7,880 in General Santos City, 3,826 in Sarangani, 6,912 in Surallah, 6,738 in Tacurong City, 4,747 in Kidapawan, and 2,475 in Midsayap.

Sanoy clarified that the provision of AICS aid is through duly approved and authenticated guarantee letters.

These guarantee letters are given to service providers to cover the cost of hospitalizations, medicines, and assistive devices, including burial and funeral expenses requested by AICS clients.

AICS helps individuals and families recover from unexpected crises, including illness, the death of a family member, and other crisis situations.

This financial assistance program is open to all Filipinos, regardless of financial status, Sanoy said.

Eligible individuals availing of DSWD’s AICS program may seek assistance through their satellite offices nearest their residences, Sanoy added.

DSWD12 currently deploys social workers in various satellite offices in Alabel, Sarangani; General Santos City; Koronadal City and Surallah in South Cotabato; Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat; and Kidapawan City and Midsayap in Cotabato Province. (ORVR - PIA South Cotabato)
